The flagship Syrah based blend named after the famed philosopher Hlose dArgenteuil, brilliant disciple-turned-lover of Pierre Ablard, fearless and forward-thinking. Showcasing the elegance and restraint of cooler-climate Syrah, with some fleshy Grenache and a touch of Roussanne to add floral aromatics.
A deep brillant garnet color. Rich, intense, and focused with plenty of ripe fruit, toasty aromas and liquorice. A powerful wine, yet well-balanced, complex and ample, with black fruit and fine, present tannins. Rich and lengthy on the finish.
Chene Bleus property is nestled in a UNESCO heritage-listed reserve among the diverse flora and fauna at one of the highest elevations in all of Southern Rhone, 2,000 feet above sea level. The remarkable 340-acre estate has functioned as a working vineyard since the Middle Ages. The high-altitude vineyards benefit from warm daytime sun and cool nights allowing a longer, gradual ripening season. Grapes are picked up to five weeks later than the surrounding valley floor. The resulting wines embody the aromas and flavor of southern Rhne, together with the finesse and elegance of northern Rhne and the aging potential of the regions finest AOCs.
Blessed with a confluence of natural factors, Chne Bleu has the benefit of an exceptional location, multifaceted geology, and a southern Rhne climate with soils more typical of the northern Rhne.Isolated and protected, high in a mountain saddle, Chne Bleu has its provenance in a unique, four-corner borderland of the dpartement of Vaucluse in the southern Rhne, where the boundaries of Gigondas, Ctes du Ventoux, Ctes du Rhne, and Sguret come together. This area is located in the foothills of Mont Ventoux, 550 to 630 meters above sea level, on the northern slopes of a spectacular limestone outcropping known as the Dentelles de Montmirail, from the Latin ‘Mons Mirabilis,’ meaning ‘Lace of Marvelous Mountains.’ It enjoys an exceptional terroir due to this pristine, remote location and its complex geology, with many exposed strata of rock.
